Q. Where can oil and stone be applied?
A. Oil and stone can be applied on existing blacktop, gravel, or compacted aggregate.
Q. What are the advantages of an oil and stone driveway over a black top driveway?
A. Oil and stone gives a new colorful wear surface with better traction at a fraction of the cost of blacktop. Oil and stone applied over gravel (new construction) will have much more flexibility than blacktop.
Q. Can I drive on a new oil and stone driveway right away?
A. Yes, it actually helps with compaction.
Q. How long does this process take?
A. It typically takes a few hours depending on the size.
Q. Is there any special maintenance with oil and stone?
A. No, the only thing that is not healthy for oil and stone is to turn the wheels of your car while the car is not moving... essentially scraping the surface and leaving marks.
Q. Is loose stone a problem?
A. Loose stones can be swept up, but we recommend that you let them stay at least 60 days.
Q. Will plowing or snowblowing affect the finish?
A. No.
